Avonlea Counseling

Hope. Grow. Live.

Working together, we can find a path.

Counseling for Adolescents & Young Adults

The primary focus at Avonlea Counseling is to provide mental health services to young individuals. Many clients are gifted & talented, neurodivergent young people and those who have been identified as twice-exceptional (2e) and/or on the autism spectrum (ASD). Concerns addressed include LGBTQ issues, anxiety, depression, self-harm, acting out behaviors, trauma, and social issues.

WPATH Assessments

I am a member of WPATH and USPATH and am certified to provide assessments for gender affirming care and gender embodiment surgery. These assessments can be done in one or two visits.

Counseling for the Visually Impaired

Vision loss and blindness often result in mental health concerns, both for the individual and the family system. I bring unique insight into this area of practice and welcome people of all ages experiencing difficulties related to visual impairment into my practice.

Support Groups

I highly recommend the free groups offered by the Autism Society of Colorado (autismcolorado.org/support-groups) for parents of twice exceptional (2e) children and LGBTQ+ over 18 individuals with autism.

My Philosophy

You are not alone. At Avonlea Counseling, I believe that listening with empathy and guiding with love can help you find the right tools for living a life - a life that works for you!

"Bev Weiler, at Avonlea Counseling, helped my gifted and talented kiddos with their intense anxieties, along with helping them learn strategies with how to cope with their older brother's medical condition and disabilities. She was kind, supportive, and helped us to grow into a healthier family. We are deeply thankful!" - Avonlea Counseling Client

About Me

Hi, I'm Bev Weiler. While I am interested in working with a wide variety of individuals and issues, I have two main areas of expertise: First, I am passionate about working with young people searching for insight into difficult life circumstances. I have experience across the spectrum working with gifted & 2e children and adolescents, as well as justice-involved youth, LGBTQ+ individuals, and youth across cultures.

My other interest is in working with people of all ages who are experiencing vision loss. Having experienced this myself with retinitis pigmentosa (RP), I recognize that there is a need for therapists who can truly understand how this affects your life and outlook and how you can continue to thrive and grow despite the profound changes you face.

my guide dog

I have a limited number of openings for sliding scale clients. I accept Health First Colorado (Medicaid) and CHP+ clients. Finally, I have a beautiful guide dog who also is a wonderful therapy dog. We look forward to serving your needs. Please contact me with any and all questions!
